ibis are extraordinary birds , with long legs and a de curved beak to dig and probe in soft ground for their food . the scarlet ibis s by far the most colourful of this family , coming from south and central america , and nesting in colonies in bushy trees where they are said to resemble blotches of blood against the foliage background .
