The United States

 

The United States is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and the Federal District. Most of the country is located in the center of North America, which is located 48 states and Washington, DC between the Pacific and the Atlantic Ocean and is bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south. Alaska is located in the northwest of the continent, bordered by Canada to the east and Russia to the west across the Bering Strait. The state of Hawaii, which is about the archipelago is located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It also includes many of the territories and islands in the Caribbean and Pacific. The United States comes in third or fourth in terms of area (3.79 million square miles, or 9.83 million km 2), and occupies third place in terms of population (307 million people). The United States and the distinction of being one of the most diverse countries in the world in terms of race and culture, and came as a result of the large immigration from different countries. The US economy is the largest national economy in the world, with an estimated gross domestic product for 2008 estimated at US $ 14.3 trillion (23 per cent of the global total, based on nominal GDP and almost 21% in terms of purchasing power).
